This website, centralmotorgroup.com, is operated by Central Motor Group Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”), an independent used-car dealer. We are the data controller for the personal information you provide through this website, and we’re responsible for how it’s collected and used. This policy is governed by UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
1. Who we are
Central Motor Group Ltd, registered in England & Wales, Company No. 16845757. Unit 2, Old Barn Farm, Rosliston Road, Walton-on-Trent, Swadlincote, Derbyshire DE12 8LR. Phone 07496 676074.
2. The information we collect
When you send a vehicle enquiry or contact us: your name, phone number, your message and the vehicle concerned.
When you ask us to value or buy your car: your contact details and details of your vehicle (registration, make, model, mileage, condition) that you choose to provide.
Automatically: basic technical information (IP address, browser type, pages viewed) collected by our hosting provider to keep the site secure and working — not used to identify you personally.
We do not take payments through this website, do not require you to create an account, and do not knowingly collect information from children.
3. How your enquiry is sent
Our enquiry and valuation forms are designed to open WhatsApp with your message ready to send to us. Your message is sent through WhatsApp and handled in line with WhatsApp’s / Meta’s privacy terms as well as ours. If you’d rather not use WhatsApp, you can call us on 07496 676074 instead.
4. Why we use your information
To respond to your enquiry and answer questions about a vehicle; provide a valuation you’ve asked for; arrange a viewing, hold a vehicle or complete a sale; arrange warranty cover through Warrantywise if you buy a car; keep the website secure; and keep records we’re legally required to keep.
Our lawful bases are: taking steps at your request before entering a contract, performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in dealing with enquiries and running a safe website, and compliance with our legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Who we share it with
Warrantywise (to arrange warranty cover if you buy a car); WhatsApp / Meta (where you use the WhatsApp enquiry option); our website hosting and database providers, who process information on our behalf under our instructions; WhatsApp / Meta, if you choose to send us a message that way; and professional advisers or authorities where legally required. We do not embed third-party content in our pages.
Some providers may process information outside the UK, with appropriate safeguards in place as required by UK data protection law.
6. How long we keep it
Enquiries that don’t lead to a purchase: up to 12 months, then deleted. Where you buy or sell a car: for as long as required by law (generally 6 years for tax and accounting records).
7. How we protect your information
We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe, including secure, access-controlled systems and restricting who can see it. No internet transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and deal properly with any issue that arises.
8. Cookies
This website sets only strictly necessary storage of its own. The two items we set are a login session and a light/dark display preference for our own staff area, which the public site never uses. Neither identifies you.
We use no analytics, no advertising and no tracking pixels — there is no Google Analytics and no Meta pixel.
We do embed a Google map on our contact section and on each vehicle page so you can see where the forecourt is. When that map loads it fetches content from Google, and Google may set its own cookies in your browser under Google’s terms and privacy policy. That is the only third-party content on the site. You can control or delete browser storage through your browser settings at any time.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to be informed, to access your information, to rectification, to erasure, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these, call us on 07496 676074; we’ll respond within one month, free of charge.
10. How to complain
Please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk, helpline 0303 123 1113.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the latest version is always on this page with the “Last updated” date shown.
